Ketamine, although it works like a charm on depression, may be using the opioid pathway in your brain thereby might lead to an increase in opioid addiction, which is already epidemic in proportions.

Note to self, don’t ask psychiatrist for ketamine as treatment for depression. Depression isn’t one bit fun but opioid addiction, whoa! No thank you!

And this is the trouble with touting a treatment before all the studies have been done. Just as with Lamictal being given to Bipolar 1 patients who were pushed into a full blown manic phase (like me) which destroyed dome people’s lives, if ketamine drives opioid addiction, how destructive will that be?!
